Samuel H. Kress Foundation
One of the WMF’s longest-standing supporters is the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, which has provided funding for hundreds of WMF’s projects, from its first grant in 1970 for the conservation of Tiepolo’s great ceiling painting in the Church of the Pietà in Venice, to consistent support for priority projects in Europe and more recently to enable WMF to provide greater public access to the reports, publications, and images that result from our work in the field.
The Kress Foundation’s special interest in research, planning and sharing expertise often provided essential support for the early development stages of projects and for the public presentation of knowledge gained through fieldwork by supporting publications and conferences.
