Seventeenth-Century Painting Materials Discovered in Historic Peruvian Church

Friday, December 17, 2010

Recently, while restoring the interior of the Church of San Pedro Apóstol de Andahuaylillas, our conservation team found a ceramic container filled with ochre pigment, a wood and hair brush, and a wooden stick. These objects were used in the 17th century to decorate the lavish interiors of the church. These items will be permanently displayed at the site museum, to be created after the conservation work is complete in 2012.
