Hadrian Award
The Hadrian Award was inspired by the Roman Emperor Hadrian, a brilliant commander and administrator, and a great patron of the arts, who demonstrated a concern for the survival of outstanding artistic works and a desire to convey the standards embodied in these works to his contemporary world.
Every year, World Monuments Fund presents the Hadrian Award to international leaders who have advanced the understanding, appreciation, and preservation of the world’s art and architecture. WMF is proud to honor Ronald and Jo Carole Lauder with the 2011 Hadrian Award.
This year, WMF will also inaugurate its annual Watch Award to recognize an individual preservation activist who is advancing the work of the World Monuments Fund. WMF is proud to honor Marcela Pérez de Cuéllar with the first Watch Award.
The Hadrian Award is presented at a gala in New York City, and is one of our most successful fundraising events.

Ronald and Jo Carole Lauder actively support the arts and civic causes. Through philanthropy, they express an unwavering commitment to the fine arts, architecture, and preservation. Mr. Lauder championed WMF's Jewish Heritage Program during his tenure as a WMF Trustee. The Museum of Modern Art, the Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies, and Neue Galerie benefit from the passionate support of the Lauder family.

With the Watch Award, World Monuments Fund recognizes individual preservation advocacy and activism. Marcela Pérez de Cuéllar, a longtime advocate for the preservation of Peru’s cultural patrimony, launched World Monuments Fund Peru in 2010. She now serves as its President. Mrs. Pérez de Cuéllar’s passionate commitment to fostering successful preservation projects that encourage improved stewardship and sustainable tourism is driven by her interest in promoting
Peruvian culture.
