Centro da Cidade: Conceptual Design

Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, was included on the 2012 World Monuments Watch to call attention to the important cultural heritage of the city and to highlight the opportunities to showcase its historic architecture as a defining feature of the region in the new urban master plan to be implemented by 2014. WMF and American Express supported the development of a cultural center to inspire residents and visitors to learn more about preserving the region’s cultural heritage. This presentation illustrates the conceptual design for the interactive museum that will offer information about the history, culture, and traditions of Bahia. The design was unveiled on August 2013 at the Palacio dos Esportes, an art deco building located at the entrance of the Historic Center of Salvador.
