Thomas Hines

Thomas Hines is professor emeritus of history and architecture at University of California, Los Angeles, where he teaches cultural, urban, and architectural history. Hines has authored numerous books, including Burnham of Chicago: Architect and Planner; Richard Neutra and the Search for Modern Architecture; William Faulkner and the Tangible Past; Irving Gill and the Architecture of Reform, and Architecture of the Sun: Los Angeles Modernism 1900-1970. He held Guggenheim, Fulbright, Getty, and National Endowment for the Humanities fellowships, and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1994. Hines received his PhD at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
