Climbing Great Buildings

Climbing Great Buildings, the 15-part BBC architecture series filmed last year featuring WMF Britain Chief Executive Jonathan Foyle, recently won “Best Daytime Series” at the 2011 Broadcast Awards last night. Around 1,200 broadcast industry figures were at the Grosvenor House Great Room in London for the presentations. Judges said it the program “swept the board” for its “original and accessible view of architecture and history” with “exceptional consistency” and “peak-time values for daytime broadcast” (6.30-7.00 PM when first shown), bringing an average audience of over one million to architectural history and conservation (including lime making, masonry and lead work).

At Coventry Cathedral, a huge upswing in visitor numbers was recorded immediately after the episode featuring the cathedral aired.
