Conservation at Wat Chaiwatthanaram

The ancient city of Ayutthaya was once the capital of the Kingdom of Siam. At the height of its power, the city undertook an ambitious construction program of monumental palaces, monasteries, and Buddhist temples. One of the most magnificent of these temples is Wat Chaiwatthanaram, built in 1630. This brief video documents WMF’s efforts to protect and conserve the temple, which is threatened by recurring floodwaters.

This video offers a brief overview of WMF’s continuing efforts at Wat Chaiwatthanaram in Ayutthaya, Thailand.
