Reanimating Zamo?? Synagogue: From Abandoned Sacred Site to Vibrant Cultural Center

Zamość Synagogue, one of the few surviving Renaissance synagogues in Poland, was in a state of serious disrepair when its conservation began in 2009. With support from World Monuments Fund’s Jewish Heritage Program, the Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland (FODZ) restored the site and transformed it into a cultural center and the starting point for a regional tourist trail, the Chassidic Route. In this talk, Monika Krawczyk, CEO of FODZ, discusses the process and challenges of ensuring the future of Zamość Synagogue.
