A Hidden Heritage: Treasures of Japanese Imperial Convents
A Hidden Heritage focuses on the venerable nuns who founded the Imperial Buddhist Convents, tracing their histories and introducing their elegant world and extraordinary culture.
This exhibition will bring attention to the uniqueness of each of the 13 remaining convents and raise awareness about the need to protect these cultural treasures for future generations.
Organized by: Medieval Japanese Studies Institute (Kyoto) and Tokyo University of the Arts. Supported by World Monuments Fund; Foundation for Cultural Heritage and Art Research (Tokyo); The Tiffany & Co. Foundation; and Canon.
