Join WMF Portugal Executive Director Teresa Veiga Macedo for a three-day program, from Thursday, May 14, to Saturday, May 16, in Portugal’s beautiful capital of Lisbon.

The program will include:

- A visit to the iconic Tower of Belém, a 16th Century Fortress and WMF’s first conservation project in Lisbon throughout the 1980’s/90’s.

- Dinner at the studio and workshop of VHILS, the renowned Portuguese street artist known for his distinctive technique of carving portraits into walls.

- A visit to Lisbon’s maritime architecture at the Rocha do Conde d'Óbidos Maritime Station and the Alcântara Maritime Station, both stunning examples of Portugal’s modernist movement. Here we will learn about the conservation work being at the station and see the remarkable frescoes of Almada Negreiros.

- An exclusive tour of the newly opened MACAM Museum’s private collection with the Director and Curator who will guide the group around the Portuguese painting galleries.

- A private dinner at the Ricardo do Espírito Santo Silva Foundation, an 18th Century palace that house the Museum of Portuguese Decorative Arts, alongside traditional craft workshops where master artisans conduct restoration work. 

- A nocturnal city tour, taking in Terreiro do Paço to view the illuminated equestrian statue of King José I, a masterpiece of 18th-century sculpture conserved by WMF in 2013.

- A morning visit to Sintra to explore the National Palace of Sintra and an opportunity to learn about the WMF’s current project to study and conserve the azulejo palace tiles.
