This spring, travelers gathered in the Netherlands for a cultural journey through Maastricht and the surrounding Limburg province, timed to WMF’s inaugural presence at The European Fine Art Foundation (TEFAF) — the world’s preeminent organization for fine art, antiques, and design.

This two-day Escapade offered exclusive access to the fair, a cross-border excursion to the historic German city of Aix-la-Chapelle, and a memorable evening at Belgium’s Castle Hex.

This Escapade also celebrated WMF’s milestone participation at TEFAF. For the first time, WMF hosted a booth showcasing our global work in heritage conservation, inviting deeper engagement with the international art and design community.

Key trip activities included:

- VIP access to TEFAF Maastricht, presenting 7,000 years of art history through the finest offerings in fine art, antiques, and design.

- A private visit to Kasteel Wiljre, a country estate where contemporary art and architecture are juxtaposed within the historic setting of a seventeenth century castle and nineteenth gardens.

- A private excursion to Aix-la-Chapelle (Aachen), the historic imperial city of Charlemagne, known for its UNESCO-listed cathedral and rich medieval heritage.

- An elegant evening at Castle Hex in Belgium — a rare opportunity to experience the private eighteenth-century estate and celebrate WMF’s 60th anniversary.

- Dedicated time at WMF’s TEFAF presentation, designed by Molyneux Studio and generously supported by Alexis Kugel.

A part of our travel program, WMF Escapade trips are reserved for members of the International Council. Learn more about how you can join.
