Archaeologist José Bastante, Project Director of WMF in Peru, will provide an overview of the llaqta, or settlement, of Machu Picchu, from its historical development to the latest scientific findings. He will also present recent advances in interdisciplinary research that update the site’s chronology, construction phases, and spatial organization.

This talk is the first installment of our new 2026 lecture series on cultural heritage. The event is in person and will be conducted in Spanish.
