Cairo, City Victorious!

WMF Program Director, Jeff Allen, provides an overview of an exciting new project WMF hopes to launch at Tikkayat al-Gulshani, an important Sufi site in the heart of Cairo, and a 2018 World Monuments Watch nomination.

The project will provide training opportunities for skilled laborers and conservators, return an important site to public attention, and serve as a springboard for reinvestment in the community.  WMF’s previous work in Egypt includes a nearly $3.5 million investment in heritage projects in the historic center of Cairo, carried out in partnership with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture.
