Launching Voices of Alabama at TheTimesCenter

In October 2019, hundreds of friends and supporters gathered in NYC at TheTimesCenter to celebrate the launch of Voices of Alabama, an oral history project that illuminates a group of 20 Civil Rights sites through storytelling.

The discussion was moderated by award-winning journalist Carol Jenkins, and speakers included Alabama Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell, Priscilla Hancock Cooper from the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and Joyce O'Neal from the Alabama African-American Civil Rights Heritage Sites Consortium.

The Consortium, a 2018 World Monuments Watch site, includes 20 sites in Montgomery, Selma, and Birmingham that played significant roles in the African-American struggle for freedom.
