Centro Histórico de LIMA Patrimonio Humano y Cultural en Riesgo (Historic Center of LIMA World Cultural Heritage at Risk)

Following the inclusion of Lima Historic Center on the 2008 Watch, World Monuments Fund initiated a pilot conservation project at Casa de las Columnas, once part of a sixteenth century convent. A traveling exhibition featuring some of Lima’s extraordinary, yet endangered, architectural heritage was also developed as part of the collaboration between WMF, Centro de Investigación, Documentación y Asesoría Poblacional (CIDAP), and the Spanish International Cooperation Agency for Development (AECID). Historic Center of Lima: Endangered Human and Cultural Heritage, first presented in Lima and Cusco, has toured several countries, including Cuba, Ecuador, Italy, Spain, and France. The complete collection of the panels featured in the exhibit has been made available in this bilingual catalogue, launched in June 2011 at the event “Conversation: Voices of the City” in Lima. The catalogue was presented by the President of WMF-Peru, Marcela Pérez de Cuellar, and representatives from AECID, CIDAP, and the mayor’s office.
