La Chapelle des Baptêmes de Notre-Dame-de-Lorette

The Church of Notre-Dame de Lorette was included on the 2014 World Monuments Watch along with the Church of Saint Merri, to call attention to their inadequate maintenance and conservation—a common plight of these significant but lesser-known churches in Paris, which are so integral to the city’s historic urban landscape. With the support of American Express, WMF, WMF Europe, and the City of Paris collaborated on the restoration of nineteenth-century paintings at the neoclassical Church of Notre-Dame de Lorette. The project focused on the murals of the Chapel of Baptisms, where a preliminary study carried out in 2015 revealed the paintings were in need of urgent treatment and consolidation.
