For those who remained in the Mellah after the mass migration of the Jewish residents in the 1980s, the significance of intangible cultural heritage like music and carpentry persists in spite of the disrepair and demolition of surrounding historic fabric. We set out to speak to those who continue to practice intangible traditions that have endured. They personify the living cultural heritage of Jewish traditions today.
