2018 H. Peter Stern Lecture

The Well Tempered City: Connecting Past and Future

A streetscape in Historic Karachi, Pakistan, a 2018 World Monuments Watch site.

In a rapidly changing world, metropolitan areas bear the brunt of global megatrends, such as climate change, population growth, rapid urbanization, inequality, and terrorism, among others. The 2018 H. Peter Stern Lecture presents Jonathan F. P. Rose, acclaimed urban planner, who will speak on his view of the most coherent urban solutions to address global cities, integrating a vision of human and natural systems. Mr. Rose will develop his ideas around a variety of Asian cities - home to sites on the 2018 World Monuments Watch - as well as the current reality of Cambodia, where WMF has a long-standing commitment to conservation initiatives.
