Join World Monuments Fund (WMF) and the Institut Français in Madagascar for a public screening of four short films from the Africa’s Cultural Landmarks documentary series.

The public screening of four short films from the new Africa’s Cultural Landmarks documentary series will be followed by an expert discussion highlighting preservation initiatives across the African continent, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Royal Hill of Ambohimanga.
Africa’s Cultural Landmarks highlights Africa’s diverse architectural traditions and preservation efforts against a backdrop of challenges. These films foreground local perspectives and stewardship, bridging ancestral legacies with contemporary narratives. The series produced by The Metropolitan Museum of Art and WMF was directed by Sosena Solomon.
The screening will be followed by a roundtable discussion on the challenges of preserving Madagascar’s built heritage featuring Bako Rasoarifetra, archaeologist and President of ICOM Madagascar; and Jimson Heritsialonina, founder of the Heritsialonina Foundation in Fianarantsoa. It will be moderated by Ludonie Velotrasina, author, cultural and intercultural mediation consultant, and Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Antananarivo.
This event is free and open to the public.
Following the discussion, guests are invited to travel to Fondation H for the public program about the exhibition Correspondances by Romeo Mivekannin.
