Coastal Connections is a joint initiative between World Monuments Fund and English Heritage.

In this first workshop, we discuss different approaches to understanding the significance of coastal heritage sites and explore how significance is defined in the context of different cultural heritage sites around the world, including Rapa Nui (Easter Island) in Chile and Hurst Castle in the UK.
Speakers include Roy Porter (English Heritage), Stephanie Ortiz (World Monuments Fund), Caitlin DeSilvey (University of Exeter), Peter Cox (ICOMOS) and Tom Colwill (Historic England). Questions and discussion led by Alex Kent (International Connections Lead) and John Darlington (Director of Projects, WMF Britain).
