World Monuments Fund Presents

A Joyous Occassion at Beta Golgotha & Mika'el

Since 2007, WMF and ARCCH have partnered to address the conservation of the rock-hewn churches in Lalibela, Ethiopia, engaging in the management and presentation of the site and training local personnel in sustainable conservation practices for its long-term maintenance.

In November 2018, a completion ceremony was held at the twin-churches of Beta Golgotha & Mika'el, the focus of WMF's most recent scope of work, to celebrate the international partnership and skilled craftspeople that were at the heart of the project.
