The Mexican state of Chiapas is named after an indigenous population, the Chiapa, who got their name from the chia plant, a species native to Mexico and Guatemala. During colonial times, Chiapas was relatively isolated from the governments of Mexico and Guatemala, and in 1849 the local politician Angel Albino Corzo established the independence of the Department of Chiapas.

Expolio bajo otro nombre

Tras el reciente fallo del Tribunal Supremo avalando la orden ministerial que paraliza por expolio el Plan municipal de prolongar la Avenida de Blasco Ibáñez destruyendo con ello una parte importante del barrio del Cabanyal, protegido como Bien de Interés Cultural, sorprenden y preocupan las noticias aparecidas en prensa sobre los planes que el Ayuntamiento de Valencia presentará esta semana para su aprobación, que vienen a mantener la idea de prolongación de la Avenida rompiendo el tejido urbano protegido y demoliendo 182 edificaciones protegidas en el conjunto del plan.
