In 2001, Lamu Old Town was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town’s history dates as far back to the eleventh century and surviving ruins of historic sites and monuments date back to the fourteenth century.

Expolio bajo otro nombre

Tras el reciente fallo del Tribunal Supremo avalando la orden ministerial que paraliza por expolio el Plan municipal de prolongar la Avenida de Blasco Ibáñez destruyendo con ello una parte importante del barrio del Cabanyal, protegido como Bien de Interés Cultural, sorprenden y preocupan las noticias aparecidas en prensa sobre los planes que el Ayuntamiento de Valencia presentará esta semana para su aprobación, que vienen a mantener la idea de prolongación de la Avenida rompiendo el tejido urbano protegido y demoliendo 182 edificaciones protegidas en el conjunto del plan.
